About

So this is where I introduce myself, huh? OK, here it goes…

I was born in 1968, in a town called Mountain View, CA. You may have heard of it, as it is the “center” of what is now familiarly known as Silicon Valley.

I grew up in a suburb, an unincorporated area in San Jose (sort of) surrounded by orchards as far as the eye could see. Sadly, precious few orchards remain anywhere within the Valley anymore. We had no sidewalks, streetlights, or fire hydrants in my neighborhood growing up, but there was a “new fangled” place called a “Mall” about 6 blocks away. It had ALL the latest and greatest stuff – JC Penny, Montgomery Ward AND a Woolworth! Any of those ring a bell?

I fell in love with drums at an early age, got my first snare drum when I was 7, played in school bands, then marching band, and started playing in “garage bands” my Freshman year of high school. Played my first nightclub gig a few days before my 18th birthday and spent the next 10 years in clubs and recording studios trying to make a career out of it, with only minor success. I’ve said I never made it past “semi-pro” status… I was good enough to get paid for my craft, just not enough to actually live off, so I’ve always had “real jobs” to support my family and my music addiction.

I’ve been married for 30 years now and just last spring the Mrs. and I became empty nester when our daughter moved out.

I still love music, and playing drums. I started surfing again after a very long absence and now taking on blogging as another creative outlet.
